At the weekend Claude-Michel Schönberg was in Tokyo attending the 30th anniversary celebrations of Les Misérables, arguably his most successful musical theatre creation ahead of the newly revived Miss Saigon and short lived Martin Guerre. However tonight he was in Manchester providing a musical theatre masterclass to the cast of Manchester Musical Youth (MMY) ahead of their production of The Pirate Queen next month.

The new Take That musical The Band has announced its full cast before a world première at Manchester Opera House on September 8th.

The new cast members features experienced leading actors from TV and the West End, including Katy Clayton who appeared in Casualty, Shameless and Waterloo Road and played series regular Samantha Booth in Where the Heart Is, and Alison Fitzjohn who has just finished as Assistant Director and performer in David Walliams's tour of Gangsta Granny.

The UK’s longest-serving dame Berwick Kaler will be reunited with regular sidekick Martin Barrass and other panto favourites in Jack and the Beanstalk at York Theatre Royal this Christmas.

The traditional family panto sees the return of Martin, who has played the dame’s on-stage ‘son’ for more than 30 years but was missing from last year’s Cinderella line-up after being seriously injured in a road traffic accident.
