West End and Broadway stars are to entertain the crowds at Lytham Festival’s spectacular Last Night of the Proms. The week-long festival in August 2016 will see in excess of 70 thousand people visit the town on the North West’s Fylde Coast.
And for the final act of the festival on Sunday August 7 the show “West End Proms”, produced exclusively for Lytham, will see a string of stars including Miss Saigon’ Lea Salonga, star of Les Miserable and Phantom of the Opera Ramin Karimloo, musical theatre group Collabro, Olivier Award winner Ruthie Henshall, Chicago star Claire Sweeney, Blackpool musical theatre star Jodie Prenger and Lytham-born rising West End star Lucie Mae Sumner all take to the stage.
The stars of both stage and screen will perform an array of hits with a full 60-piece orchestra. The evening will end with a traditional Last Night of the Proms finale – an event when families and live music lovers are encouraged to pack up their candelabras and picnic hampers for an evening of musical celebration.
Lea Salonga is appearing exclusively at the event, her only UK concert appearance of 2016, and her first time ever in a UK festival appearance. The original Miss Saigon is set to wow the crowds alongside a whole host of musical theatre names.
Music promoters Cuffe and Taylor organise and present Lytham Festival and director Peter Taylor said he is particularly pleased with the Sunday night for 2016.
Peter said: “This is a great line up for our traditional Last Night of the Proms. All of these performers have a fantastic reputation and I personally cannot wait to see so much talent from the world of musical theatre on our stage.
“To be bringing such high calibre artists to Lytham Festival in one show is absolutely fantastic and I have every confidence that this will be a wonderful evening. “The beauty of bringing such varied and amazing talent is that there really will be something for everyone and that is exactly what this festival is about, ensuring that as many people as possible get to enjoy it.”
